Stability of a Functional Equation Related to Distance Measures - Ii
The present work continues the study of the stability of the functional equations of the type f(pr, qs) + f(ps, qr) = f(p, q) f(r, s) namely (i) f(pr, qs)+f(ps, qr) = g(p, q) g(r, s), and (ii) f(pr, qs)+f(ps, qr) = g(p, q) h(r, s) for all p, q, r, s ∈ G, where G is an abelian group. These functional equations arise in the characterization of symmetrically compositive sumform distance measures.

We consider the functional equation f(xf(x)) = φ(f(x)) where φ : J → J is a given increasing homeomorphism of an open interval J ⊂ (0,∞) and f : (0,∞) → J is an unknown continuous function. In a previous paper we proved that no continuous solution can cross the line y = p where p is a fixed point of φ, with a possible exception for p = 1. The range of any non-constant continuous solution is an ...

Nowadays, options are common financial derivatives. For this reason, by increase of applications for these financial derivatives, the problem of options pricing is one of the most important economic issues. With the development of stochastic models, the need for randomly computational methods caused the generation of a new field called financial engineering. In the financial engineering the pre...
